Session 22: The Blob!

Moonday, 14th of Neth, 4722 AR

  • The group rested for the night. The next day, there was a chill in the air, a hint of the winter winds.
  • The PCs returned to the Abomination Vaults via the new uncovered route.
  • In the octagonal room (E7), they were ambushed by a trio of demons.
  • After returning the demons to the Nine Hells, they continued to explore through the secret door they had left behind.
  • They found the personal chambers (E8) of the shadow entity they had faced the first time they entered the octagonal room. They found a greater hat of disguise, a pouch of tiny emeralds worth 25 gp, and a poison codex. This codex contained the formulas for hunting spider venom, giant scorpion venom, giant wasp venom, and malyass root paste.
  • They followed another hallway to the south which led to a secret door that opened into a balcony (E26) over an arena. They attempted to sneak around the balcony but accidentally drew the attention of a shanrigol behemoth below. The group fled from the creature back the way they came, but Konnor Klapton fled back into the arena. The bard wanted to fight the beast but the group continued their flight.
  • Cut off from the group, he fled the other direction through a grand concourse (E10). Two basilisk were hiding there, waiting for their next meal, and they pursued him Fortunately, the hallways north of the arena connected, and Jorne spotted Konnor’s light.
  • The group rallied and defeated the basilisk before any of them were turned to stone. The shanrigol behemoth broke off pursuit of the group but no one knew why.
  • There was another hallway east of the grand concourse, so the group decided to explore there next. The hallways led to an old lounge (E14). There was a secret door leading south but they decided they had enjoyed enough excitement with secret doors for one day.
  • They went through a door to the east and found furniture covered in white fungus (E15). They suspected the fungus was unsafe but stayed too long in the room. The fungus spore was in the air, and one of them became infected.
  • Most of the group retreated into the lounge, but Trulk went through a door leading north. Getting split up seemed a theme for the evening. The group in the lounge left the door open and more folks became infected.
  • Trulk found himself in some kind of readiness room (E13) where he was attacked by a pair of mimics. He fled through another door to the west. Fortune favored the party again and he was able to find an easy path back to the rest of the group.
  • He told them what he saw and they decided to deal with the mimics. On the way, Konnor spotted a secret door they had overlooked before. Once again, they decided to leave the secret door for later.
  • Nearing the readiness room, they heard the mimics discussing the “hunk of meat” who got away. The creatures decided if they didn’t catch something soon, they would go to the “bar below” to get a bite to eat. This was the second time the group had heard mention of a bar below.
  • The group charged the mimics and finished them off.
  • Jorne returned to the room with the fungus and used his Produce Flame spells to destroy the source of the spoors.
  • ShaiLu used valuable spell slots to cast Cure Disease on her three comrades infected with fungus rot.
  • Exploration would continue. No one had noticed Angrael was not waiting for them when they returned to the dungeon this time.
